what’s the big deal about fibre?

Fibre's essential to a healthy diet, but did you know it's packaged up in some of the tastiest natural ingredients? Allow us to explain...

We often think of fibre as ‘the brown bits’ in our bread or cereal, but actually fibre can be found in a whole lot of different fruit, veg, pulses, nuts and seeds. In fact, lots of the very tastiest natural ingredients are packed with the stuff. That’s how come our delish new bar – fibre packed dark chocolate and sea salt – is also a great source of fibre (we’ve got figs, apricots, almond and coconut to thank for that). You’ll find health-helpful fibre in all our products, so getting enough is a real treat.

What has fibre ever done for me?

Actually, quite a lot, from keeping your digestive system moving to lowering your cholesterol and supporting your immune system. Come to think of it, getting enough fibre in your diet is pretty important. You can learn more here.

Am I getting enough?

Adults should consume 30g per day, but the British Nutrition Foundation says the average intake is around just 18g per day. So how can you make sure you’re getting enough fibre?

Switching from white carbs – bread, pasta, rice and noodles – to their wholewheat equivalents is a good start.

A diverse intake of grains – wheat, oats, barley, rye – with their original fibre intact can help give you a variety of fibres.

A rich and varied selection of fresh fruit and vegetables will also make a huge difference: beans, pulses, berries, nuts, seeds…Explore the plant kingdom in all its glory!

Is there fibre in Eat Natural products?

Getting fibre on the go can be tricky, but our newest bar, fibre packed dark chocolate and sea salt has 3g of the stuff and tastes really good. As with all our bars, the starting point was to make something tasty using only wholesome natural ingredients. Take our sweet and squishy figs, for example, or our succulent shreds of toasted coconut. We’ve stirred them up with high-fibre apricots and almonds (and a generous pouring of dark chocolate) to make a snack that happens to help you meet your recommended daily amount.

Our apple, ginger & dark chocolate bar is another way to up your intake. It’s a jumble of apple, cranberries, apricots and shredded coconut – all sources of fibre – undercoated with indulgent dark chocolate.

In fact, you’ll find plenty of really tasty ways to get more fibre into your diet across our range. Just take a peek at the nutritional information on every product.
